Archaea

Archaea is a biological domain of small microbes, different from bacteria and other microbes. Scientific investigations show they perform the last steps in waste breakdown; even under stressed conditions.

Archaea and bacteria are shown in the picture to the left. They are bound together in a relationship called syntrophy. Syntrophy increases the robustness of the bacteria.

This website presents customer experiences, scientific literature, and common sense explanations of Archaea’s value in wastewater management. The site is sponsored by ArchaeaSolutions, Inc. -- a leader in Archaea applications.

For most readers, this will be their first exposure to Archaea. Why? They were only discovered in 1977 and their wastewater treatment usefulness only became apparent the last five years.
